night, you big ole rutting alien.
Enough! Ziang knocked the shaving cream from Shawn s hand.
They stood staring at each other, both breathing hard. Shawn s lips twitched and Ziang raised a
scaly eyebrow. Shawn bit his lip, but the giggles wouldn t stop. He clutched the counter again,
but for a different reason.
 Feel better now?
Actually, I do. All you need now is some hair and a razor. Want to borrow mine?
Hair or the razor? Ziang wiped the shaving cream from around his eyes and flicked it at
Shawn.
Shawn ducked, shocked now at what he d done. Um, sorry about that. You re not mad, are
you?
Ziang shook his head. No, I m not mad. Truth is, I didn t think about the marking until you
passed out. There s no way I d take you around others of my kind without those markings,
though.
But on my face, for God s sake?
They re on your face so they can be seen so there s no mistaking who you belong to. That
stops challenges from others. I did the symbols last night so you wouldn t feel pain.
That s awfully like marking something as property, Ziang.
Be that as it may, it s a safety precaution. This way there are no battles for a mate that is
claimed.
Okay, I see your point. Not happy you did it with no warning, but I get it. I d planned to go into
town today, but that s off the list now. Shawn ran a hand through his hair. Moot point anyway,
the stores are closing.
I didn t mean to upset you, but... Ziang shrugged. It had to be done and you were
unconscious. I couldn t wake you up and ask, now could I? Believe me, you did not want to be
awake for that, especially since I had no pain relief to give you.
I said I get it. But be warned, when you do stuff like this I will get even.
 Understood.
You, ah, might need to take a shower.
Ziang stood with his hands on his hips. Shaving cream was working its way down his legs. You
think?
Shawn snickered again and left the bathroom before he got talked into joining Ziang. His ass
couldn t take another pounding. He sat on the bed, waiting for Ziang to join him.
Would it be a problem if I took some personal things with me like pictures, a few of my favorite
books, stuff like that?
No, bring what you want, just no heavy things. We need to be able to move fast.
Shawn stepped into the bathroom and cleaned up the mess he d made. Not a problem. Sad to
say, there aren t many things I can t live without. Well, besides Diesel. I m going to shower,
then fix something to eat, if you re hungry.
I m not, but you need to eat. You used a lot of energy last night.
I m sure. Shawn was tempted to say something about the energy he used, but didn t. Ziang s
attitude was cocky and arrogant enough. After all, he d pleasured his mate senseless.
Shawn closed the door and stared at the mirror. The designs didn t have any color to them like a
tattoo, but they were raised and carved into his skin. Shawn shuddered. Ziang was right, he was
glad he hadn t been awake. But Ziang didn t need to know that; he already had an ego the size of
Texas.
After he showered, he dressed and ate. Over the next couple of hours, they went through
Shawn s possessions and packed what he wanted to take in a suitcase. He updated his social
networks, like Ziang said. To the outside world, he had major plans for his life.
I need to go upstairs and be seen doing stuff, just in case the house is being watched. If you hear
furniture being moved, it s just me. I need to move some things so it looks like I m going to
clean this place up to sell. And find the cat carrier. Give me two hours and I ll be back.
 Okay.
When I get back, we need to talk about tonight. How are we going to do this?
I have a plan, and I ll go over it with you once you return.
Sounds good, I ll see you shortly.
Shawn went upstairs and spent the time moving things and cleaning.

Hidden by the trees, Special Agent Jacob looked through his binoculars. The subject had finally
put in an appearance after sleeping the entire day. Now he was moving furniture and doing
housekeeping chores.
Wonder if he tied one on again last night, S.A. Jacob sneered as he laid the binoculars on the
car seat.
So what if he did? S.A. Holland said with an eye roll.
I m telling you there s something fishy about that guy.
No, there isn t. You dislike him because he s gay. His story checked out. Why can t you accept
that no one saw anything? S.A. Holland picked up the binoculars and watched Shawn for a
moment. And from the looks of it, he s moving on with his life.
It didn t check out, a story like that can t be checked. Very clever of him.
You said there were beer cans in the trash.
He could have dumped the beer and left the cans for us to see. He had to know he d get a visit.
You re obsessed, you know that? S.A. Holland said as he laid the binoculars down. You ve
zeroed in on him simply because he s gay. We ve been here the better part of the day and seen
nothing. Let s go back to HQ. I m tired and it s late.
S.A. Jacob s hand clenched the steering wheel.
You need to get a grip, Jacob. You ve let this alien conspiracy thing get to you, S.A. Holland
said, seeing his partner s reaction.
Something landed out there in the woods. We know that.
 We haven t found anything.
Just because we haven t found it doesn t mean it s not there. This guy s connected. I feel it.
Again, you re obsessed. Let s go, I m ready to call it a night. It s late and he probably isn t
going anywhere. Besides, this town rolls up the sidewalks at five. There s nothing for him to do
this late at night.
 Fine, fine.
The car pulled out and left as Shawn continued to work in the house.

Shawn finished up and went back downstairs.
 Ziang? It s me.
 You re done?
Yeah, finally. Shawn sat next to his alien lover. There was a device on the table that blinked.
So, what s the plan? And what is that thing?
This is a very primitive device that lets me track how close the rescue ship is, and it can be used [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
